The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday arrested two members of a gang involved in illegal liquor business and stealing petrol and diesel from tankers going to depots in Mohanlalganj.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Mohsin of Moradabad and Nirmal Yadav aka Saurabh were arrested from Mohanlalganj near Kankaha railway station.
The team also recovered 35,000 barrels of denatured spirit worth Rs 35 lakh, 25 drums of petrol, 3 drums of diesel, Rs 8,100 in cash and other items.
Probe revealed that the accused used to steal petrol and diesel and denatured spirit (alcohol) from the tankers coming from the depot without opening the digital lock.
UPSTF took to Twitter and wrote in Hindi which can be translated as “Arrested 2 members of a gang involved in illegal liquor business, including 35,000 barrels of illegal denatured spirit, who stole diesel/petrol and denatured spirit from the tankers coming from the depot on May 21 without opening the digital lock. @uppolice.” (sic)
