For the unofficial Test matches against New Zealand A, Sheldon Jackson was once more passed over for a spot in India A squad.

Sheldon has been one of Saurashtra’s most reliable players in the Ranji Trophy and has long hoped to be selected for the India A team, but he was ignored once again.

The wicketkeeper-batsman posted on Twitter following the squad announcement that he has every right to think he will be chosen.

I Was Upset Myself: Sheldon Jackson

“I have a right to believe and dream that if I have performed for 3 continuous seasons, I may get picked on the basis of my performances, not age, tired of hearing this that I’m a good player and performer but I’m old, I’m 35, not 75,” Sheldon Jackson wrote.

Jackson’s performance in the IPL 2022 was criticised on Twitter by a user who claimed that the season was terrible for Jackson. Jackson scored 23 runs in 5 games while making his IPL comeback for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The twitter user wrote I understand your pain but you were terrible in the IPL. All that hype; it fizzled. Sorry!

To which, the KKR batsman replied:

“Hey, I understand you are upset with me and i was angry with myself too coz i havnt got anything in cricket easily or early ,but in cricket it happens no matter how much you try at times things dont go your way, im sorry i couldn’t show you how good i actually am, someday,” Jackson responded.

The user was moved by the response, “So sorry; didn’t think you would read/reply.. was just upset as a fan! I hope you blast everyone out of the park next year. Looking forward to your performance,” he wrote.

In a List A game with England A in 2017, Jackson made his final appearance for India A. In the upcoming domestic season, which begins on September 8, the wicketkeeper-batsman might return. He will represent Saurashtra.
