Netflix series Squid Game was a huge success in 2021. The South Korean show has been renewed for the second season with all eyes on the innumerable twists and turns to be introduced.. The reality show, titled Squid Game: The Challenge, will offer the biggest cash prize ever in the history of reality shows. The winner can earn up to Rs. 35.56 crores approx ($4.56 million). The show will see 456 competitors, just like it was on the show.
NETFLIX ANNOUNCES SQUID GAME REALITY SHOW
Netflix announced the exciting update on June 14 with a promo where the ‘Red Light, Green Light’ doll can be seen alongside masked men. The caption welcomed people around the world to register for the show. While more details on the format of the show is yet to be known, the move will surely help boost Netflix’s slumping subscriber rates globally.
WHAT IS SQUID GAME?
For those unaware, Squid Game took almost 10 years to be made and got an international spotlight for its poignant commentary on the class divide that exists in the Korean market. The show dealt with people from the middle-class and lower income categories participating and putting their humanity at risk to be able to win the cash prize.
The original show was created by South Korean director Hwang Dong-hyuk. However, the reality show is looking at welcoming “English-language speakers from any part of the world.”
