K-pop girl group Aespa has released their much-awaited mini-album titled Girls. The music video for the title track Girls shows a powerful and upgraded side to Aespa as they perform in sync. Girls shows the ‘metaverse group’ in a digital city as they sing powerfully, welcoming the future, and a parallel world. Their AI character Naevis also makes an appearance in the music video.

ABOUT GIRLS

Aespa delivers a strong performance with Girls as they make references to their older title tracks, like Black Mamba and Next Level. They also speak about upgrading themselves and finding a whole new meaning in a parallel world. “Scream (Get loud), listen (My sound) / Call it (Upgrade), we coming / Blooming in chaos (We Them Girls), and confronting fear, that courage / Whenever we are together, we them girls,” the girls sing on the chorus.

Aespa’s mini-album Girls also includes two pre-released tracks: Illusion and Life’s Too Short. It also includes three of the older singles released: Black Mamba, Forever and Dreams Come True. With Girls, Aespa has created a new all-time high in pre-orders, standing at over 1.6 million copies for any K-Pop girl group.

Earlier, Aespa revealed that Girls was initially supposed to release early but was pushed back to make some adjustments to the songs. “Girls was actually supposed to be released in around, like, March or April,” said Giselle, in a conversation.

ABOUT AESPA

For those unaware, Aespa is a girl group formed under SM Entertainment. It is a four-member group that includes: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. The girls recently visited the United Nations’ 2022 High-level Political Forum to deliver a speech on sustainable development.
