Another case of alleged rape of a minor in Hyderabad has come to the fore. A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped on April 20, by a 23-year-old man when she went to a birthday party. The incident comes close on the heels of the high-profile case of the rape of a minor in Hyderabad, in which the sons of politicians have been named as accused.
The girl, an orphan, who lived at a childcare facility, went to a classmate’s birthday party on Necklace Road. However, she did not inform the hostel’s warden about this and told her that she was going to her college with three other girls from the hostel.

At the party, she met another friend named Suresh, who worked at a stationery shop. The girl had made Suresh’s acquaintance earlier and would meet regularly. Suresh had even gifted her a mobile phone.
According to the complaint filed by the hostel warden, during the party on April 20, Suresh asked the girl to accompany him to the parking lot to talk about something. However, once there, Suresh allegedly forced the girl inside a car and raped her.
A complaint was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the accused was arrested.
