Farmers can change governments: Telangana Chief Minister KCR in Punjab

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed solidarity with the protesting farmers and said that the farmers can overturn governments. The Telangana CM was in Chandigarh to meet the bereaved families of farmers who died during the “fight for farmers’ rights” against the Centre.

Talking about the farmers’ agitation against the Centre’s three farm laws, KCR said, “Protesting farmers were termed Khalistani, terrorists. My only request to farmers’ leaders is that we should continue this protest, not just in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and UP, but across the country. Farmers can change governments if they want.”

On Sunday, CM K Chandrashekar Rao and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, paid tributes to the martyrs of the Galwan Valley clash against the Chinese troops and the farmers who died during the anti-farm law stir last year, in Chandigarh.

Addressing the gathering, KCR said, “Delhi CM Kejriwal is lucky that he got a chance to serve farmers as they sat on Delhi’s borders. We too would always support our farmer brothers and sisters. We cannot bring back those who have died but we are with you in this pain.”

KCR claimed that the farmers were in dire need of help before Telangana became a state.

“Before Telangana became state, a lot of farmer issues persisted. Farmers were dying by suicide. We are improving, giving farmers free electricity. Centre asking us to impose electricity bills, put meters. We would die but not install meters,” Telangana CM KCR said.

Earlier in the day, CM K Chandrashekar and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had lunch together and discussed various issues, including the current political situation in the country. Later, they left for Chandigarh.
