Captain Manpreet Singh has claimed that the Men’s Hockey team will do everything to secure a medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Indian men’s Hockey team captain Manpreet Singh said that the team will do everything to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

The squad left for the UK on Saturday and before leaving, Singh opened up on a lot of topics, including the morale of the team at the moment.

According to the Hockey India website, the Indian midfielder said that the players are excited about the event as they have been training for the competition for quite sometime and are looking to put on a good show against the world’s best. The India captain also said that the team aims to win a medal in the event.

“We are quite excited about this event as we have been training for this competition for quite some time now, and we are looking forward to putting on our best show against some of the best teams in the world.”

“Having worked on our strengths and weaknesses in the last few months, we will do whatever it takes to win a medal here,” said Singh.

The skipper also opened up on the mood in the team and said that everyone in the camp is excited and looking forward to giving their all. He also said that currently everyone is focused on getting accustomed to the weather and playing conditions in Birmingham and preparing for their opening fixture.

“Everyone is excited and looking forward to giving their 100 per cent.”

“Right now, we are focused on reaching Birmingham and getting accustomed to the weather and playing conditions there. We are also preparing for our first game, as a strong start against Ghana will be crucial in kicking off our campaign,” said Singh.

India has been placed in Pool B alongside England, Wales, Canada and Ghana. The first match for the team will be against Ghana on July 31st.
