AIMIM MLA’s son detained in Hyderabad gang rape case

The son of an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA has been detained by police for his involvement in the Hyderabad gang rape case. He is a minor.

Out of the six accused identified in the rape case, all six have been taken into custody, including 18-year-old Saduddin Malik, who was arrested on Friday. They have been accused under the POCSO Act, and sections of penal code for outraging of modesty and criminal assault.

CV Anand, Hyderabad Police Commissioner, said that the party idea was conceived by a Bengaluru boy. One Osman Ali Khan, booked the pub and on May 28, the victim paid Rs 1,300 and along with her friends, entered the pub.

“At 3:15 PM one minor along with Saduddin approached the victim. The conspiracy was hatched inside the pub. When the victim’s friend left the club, the accused trapped the victim,” he said.

The punishment for the five persons involved in the rape will be not less than 20 years, and they might be awarded imprisonment for life till death or the death penalty.

For the AIMIM MLA’s son, who is accused of sexual assault, a minimum five to seven years of imprisonment will apply.

“There is strong evidence against the accused,” the commissioner added.

A 17-year-old girl, who went to a club for a party, was allegedly gang-raped by five people inside a car on Saturday, May 28. She was dropped back at the pub at around 7.32 pm.

The police then registered a case against unknown persons based on a complaint by the girl’s father. Initially, it was a case of “outraging modesty” but when the girl gave a detailed statement, a rape case was filed.

Amid reports that the accused had cleaned the vehicle, the police said the forensic teams collected a good amount of evidence related to the incident.

Meanwhile, a case was registered against BJP MLA M Raghunandan Rao, after he released a video allegedly relating to the case, revealing the identity of the victim.

On June 4, the BJP legislator at a press conference, displayed some photographs and a video clip and alleged that it showed the AIMIM MLA’s son’s ‘involvement’ in the case.
